What inspired you to fundraise?
The Haiti Disaster and the huge amounts of aid needed across the country
What did you choose to do and why?
We ran a cake sale due to the known weakness for cakes in our office.
What was involved and did you get much help from the organisation/people you were supporting?
Oxfam had excellent information pages about how to donate and how the money would be speant. It was really easy to organise, just a few all staff emails asking for bakers and letting people know the details.
How many people on your volunteer fundraising team and how did you get your team together?
There were 13 of us baking (a bakers dozen!), I asked all our staff by email if they would be wiling to bake/create something which we could sell in aid of the Haiti appeal.
What was it like planning for it?
Very easy, and a great last minute fundraiser - we chose to do it on a Monday as everyone would have Sunday afternoon free to bake and sent emails and made posters reminding people of the sale and what we were raising money for.
How long did it take, including everyone's time?
Fewer than 8 hours
What was it like asking for donations, any top tips?
For ease and openess we priced everything at £1, good value as people will spend more if they think they are getting a bargain.
What was your target?
How much did you raise?
£211.87
Would you do it again?
Definitely
What advice would you give to someone wanting to do the same thing?
Make sure everyone baking has basic food hygiene knowledge. Have a back up plan for leftover cake - I sent our leftovers to my boyfriends office as we were all 'caked out' by then.
Encourage people to buy some to take home for freinds and family.
