There are a growing number of websites that help bring volunteers and charities together. They are great for finding charities near to you who are running fun volunteer fundraising activities and many offer useful advice on volunteering too. If you want to attend a fundraising event that has been organised by the charity itself, e.g. a fun run, ball or quiz night, you might want to start by having a look on our events calendar.
The Intelligent Giving website has a really comprehensive list of sites and we have listed a few below:
Do-it.org
Do-it.org describe themselves as follows:
"do-it.org.uk was launched in 2001 with the first, and still the only, national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK.
do-it.org.uk is part of the registered charity YouthNet, a non-profit-making organisation. We do not charge people to use the database as we believe that volunteering should be free to the user and so make a small charge to organisations registering their opportunities to ensure this."
TimeBank
TimeBank describe themselves as follows:
"TimeBank is a national charity inspiring and connecting a new generation of people to volunteer in their communities, and enabling charitable organisations and businesses to develop innovative and effective volunteer recruitment programmes."
Volunteer Centres
Volunteer centres are supported by Volunteering England, and are described on the Volunteering England website as follows:
"Volunteer Centres (sometimes known as volunteer bureaux or volunteer development agencies) provide support at a local level for individual volunteers and volunteer involving organisations."
Volunteering England have a search tool on their website to help you find your nearest Volunteering Centre.
If you are a volunteering support organisation and would like to feature on this website, please contact us.
