Silent auctions: Introduction

Run in the same way as normal auctions, but with ‘silent’ bids instead of bidding via an auctioneer.

Created: 17 December 2007

As with a standard auction, a silent auction has a number of items to be auctioned, all displayed around a room or space.

Unlike a normal auction, at the silent kind bidders write their details and their bid on a piece of paper kept by the item. At the end of the allotted time the ‘bids’ are collected and the items allocated to the successful bidders.

You can also choose to run them so that people bring their items to be sold, and you either charge a flat rate to enter items or a percentage of the sale price.

Boost your income by selling light refreshments on the day.
