Street collections: Introduction
Probably the most familiar type of volunteer fundraising
Created: 30 December 2007
This traditional way of collecting funds is popular for a number of reasons:
- there is no outlay for a venue
- it raises the profile of the charity
- and it enables you to approach a new group of potential donors.
While you may not know how much money will be raised, you can often increase the amount by being creative, use animal costumes or sing and dance!
Whatever you decide, you must get a permit at least a month in advance from the local authority in the area you are collecting – the more notice you have the more chance you have of booking a good date! Try to get lots of helpers involved as the more people you have out on the street, the more money you are likely to collect.
