There are approximately 10,000 independent trusts and foundations in the UK, giving £2 billion in grants each year.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations, NCVO, provide great advice on preparing for approaching trusts and foundations for funding.
Before you approach a trust or foundation for funding it is always a good idea to contact the charity you're supporting, as they may already receive support from the organisation and uncoordinated approaches could damage long established relationships.
