How2fundraise.org exists to celebrate and support the 16 million people in the UK, who fundraise for charitable causes each year.
It is provided by the Institute of Fundraising as part of our portfolio of resources for fundraisers throughout the UK. The Institute is the professional membership body for fundraisers, working to promote the highest standards in fundraising practice and management.
If you are a volunteer fundraiser or support volunteer fundraisers, then you probably know a great deal about fundraising in the community. We invite you to make this site a fantastic resource by sharing what you know, you can:
Information already on this site
You will find many types of information already provided on this website:
- How2guides – with lots of guidance on running fundraising activities
- Fundraising know-how – the nuts and bolts of volunteer fundraising
- News centre – latest events, fundraiser’s own stories, top-tips, etc
- Directory of suppliers – find what you need
- Events calendar – find fundraising events being run nationally or near to you
- Specialist advice for people who support volunteer fundraisers – some of which is for organisational members of the Institute of Fundraising only
How2guides
How2guides can be found in our 'Fundraising ideas' section and aim to give you the confidence to try something new, or possibly help you get even more out of an activity that you are familiar with. They are written on four levels:
- Introduction, which gives brief information helps you to judge whether this activity is for you at a glance
- Checklist, if you are the sort of person that hates instruction manuals, then hopefully our checklist will act as a useful prompt
- Guide, lots of useful ideas for making your event a success, including advice on the law and best practice
- Some guides also include template letters, posters and Excel spreadsheets with auto-calculators to help you workout ticket prices and potential income
We will continue to add new how2guides and know-how sheets to the site all the time, so come back and visit us regularly, subscribe to our RSS feeds and e-newsletter and we’ll let you know what is new by email.
We really do want to hear from you, so please contact us with any ideas or suggestions you have.
